Thank you James Brown :)
My lovely gorgeous friend at the gym, James Brown, who's a manager and personal trainer (I have useful friends ), gave me advice today after doing my long run yesterday.. sticking with the 'something different' theme. Cross-trainer (think Viv suggests this as part of the training too) Level...

YOU CAN DO IT !
Hands up who runs flat on a treadmill? I was told you have to do at least a 1.0 incline to reflect road running. I've always done this. Today my target was 17k but no I made it to 15k/9.3m (approx 110-120mins - was a blur after 100!) although put the treadmill flat after 5k! Didn't find it too...

TRY SOMETHING NEW!
Slightly achey from the 14k with Hyde Park Runners (all 3 of us!) yesterday, knees a little tender and toe with half-toenail fallen off (sign of a long-distance runner!) - I ventured to the gym. As long distances are tending to be outside, which I much prefer and am getting used to, I have time to 'play'...

Hyde Park Runners 14k WELL DONE!
Well almost.. it's difficult to know. One gadget read nearly 9 miles, another gadget read 13.5km. We know the route is 4.3 miles and we went twice! So it's def 8.6 miles which is 13.84k! We added an extra bit though round the outside, so maybe 14k? Who knows.. what I do know is that without my...

WHO INVENTED EXCUSES ?!
Planned a 10k early one today. Didn't sleep well. Woke with headache, groin and left inner thigh strain as result of gym training Sunday - excuses, excuses. Had to do something to make up for treat of Green & Black's (small) bar 70% dark (that's good for you) when I went to cinema yesterday...

Reached a Target :)
Today I lost half a stone! This is in just over a week, and due to diet, no alcohol or junk food, and run run run! After spending 3 hours clearing out my son's bedroom (aerobic activity? There was a lot of movement!) - I went to the gym: 5k attempting Fat Burn - I was told to start at 8.0kph for...

After Run Party !
Did the ultimate and ran on empty. Reason for this: car still not working, went on a road run, concern about needing to find the ladies. Effect: after 10k my body had enough (and my mind). Worked out a 16.8k route using http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ Gmap Pedometer. Prefer lili's Nike wristband as...

Hyde Park Runners Rock
Day 4 diet and still successful.. surely this positivity can't last! Left work late, wearing running gear (in public!) to meet lili for first Hyde Park Runners meet. Had a brief conversation (flirt?) with man behind me on escalators. Surely escalators count as a fitness technique.. they were long...

Was feeling guilty..
.. last night, at chilling on the sofa in front of the soaps, instead of fit/fat club including a run as the-ever-so-supportive-lili had suggested. Diet: Day 2 of Rosemary Conley 2 week kick start (no alcohol!). I can lose half stone in 2 weeks on this - then another stone to go ;) 5.30 am alarm went...

The Last Sociable Weekend...
.. has just passed in whirlwind of pubs, theatre, sight-seeing, food, drink and lots of laughter (made at all worthwhile!). I happened to sneak at least a 5k in yesterday (Sunday) morning, after around 5 hours sleep of which I am proud of - the run not the lack of sleep. 48 days to go and I really mean...

ALL OR NOTHING !
I started attempting to run in February and successfully ran the 10k British London in July. Since then the RTTB date seemed a long way away. IT'S ONLY 50 DAYS TO GO - don't you just hate that countdown on the Run To The Beat site? Okay, let's get serious now.. right now! I have a lovely...

All Gone Quiet with 50 Days To Go!
Okay, so I had a dull headache all day yesterday, continuing today. My knee is sore, my legs are achey (feels like my first run ever!). Planned to get up at 6am and do a 5k this morning, but my son didn't want me to (would mean leaving him early morning), and in any case I couldn't get up at...

GIVING UP IS NOT AN OPTION!
Went prepared... 15k was my target - particularly to work off biscuits eaten during team meeting (bought by me!). Sugar Free Red Bull (trying to avoid them but is Wednesday after a day of work). Changed tactics as follows - from top to bottom: Hair - streamlined into a plait instead of bunched up Music...

Back to Normality
But what is normality? After my hols, back to work. This was fine, have my training to focus on. Went to fat club - yes, I know I'm not supposed to call it that - it's where fat people go to get slim though. Weighed in at 1.5lbs extra which after hols isn't bad. Still over a stone to lose...

Where Am I So Far?
Each year, I like to set myself personal achievements, and this year is all about me. I enjoy raising money for charity, and benefitting from personal fitness at the same time gives personal motives too. Last year I trained for Playtex Moonwalk, which is 26.2 miles through London wearing decorated bras...
